Platoon of Four update.

Everybody in the Platoon of Four is alive except Sadie. Sadie died in July of congenital heart failure. Duke is all alone in the labrador kennel and is doing all right. Winter is coming in a month and he is getting ready for it. Since Sadie died, Duke has been more obedient than ever, he would come to me when I call him instead of following Sadie around. He would stay in the yard. Sadie did what she liked to do during the last hour of her life, walking. She walked then couldn't walk anymore and nose started bleeding. She was very skinny also so that means she didn't eat very good. I was wondering why she was getting skinny during the last month of her life. So we put her asleep to end her suffering. It was for the best. Sadie was a very good lovable dog. Speedy is still doing his job as a hearing dog for my sister, Becky. He's doing better though. He also went on a big trip to North Carolina in July to see his aunt Karen and cousin Foster. I wasn't there but I heard that he constantly played with Foster during the whole visit. Speedy also went to the beach, I saw pictures of him and he had sand all over him. He did not like to get wet though. Speedy also flew in a big plane on Becky's lap and they tell me he would bark every time the seatbelt ring rang. Sandy, good old Sandy, has lost a little bit of weight and feels a lot healthier. She is the joy in the house. She likes to play with Duke but not Speedy, she would run with Duke in the backyard. Then at last, the mongrel cat, Jasper Belle, is still meowing like crazy. Found a place to sleep, out on the field by my neighbor's house right against the fence and under the apple tree. He goes out at night to catch mice and grasshoppers. He loves his job. He then come and visits once a while when Duke and Speedy are not around. Well, that's the update for The Platoon of Four. (It's been since April!)

duke can now go out of his kennel and stay right in the yard with no chains, really a good family dog although we got him fausted on us from mean neighbors, what choice did we have but to take him

He sounds like a good dog. We are pretty happy with Deegan too. We have been letting him in the house at night and he will stay on his blanket right by the door whenever he is in the house! We can leave him there all night, food on the table, whatever..he knows not to move off his mat, and he doesn't make a peep. Great dog! We need to teach him to go into his kennel a little better though.

I am sorry to hear about Sadie. It sounds like you did the right thing and put her to sleep. Better to put her out of her misery when she wasn't feeling well. I am sure she led a good life with your family.

Sounds like the others are keeping everyone hopping!
